About Sitebilder Website Hosting and Management

Here are a few things about this site that you may (or may not?) be interested in:

We use Javascript and PHP to determine what type of browser a visitor has, the screen size, whether or not the browser is Java-enabled, and whether it can handle JavaScript. We do this so that we can ascertain which stylesheet properties and scripts your browser can handle, and deliver the best content for your particular browser.

The free scripts we offer are written by yours truly and you may download them, use them, modify them, boil them in oil or whatever you want. This generousity does not extend to any articles, tutorials or other content, however.

Yup, that's me... Any constructive criticism or suggestions you may have for us are more than welcome. It is our main aim to satisfy you, the viewer. If you have your own site and are having problems, you'll find a few tutorials on HTML, CSS, JavaScript and the like that may help you out, and some links where you can find more help if you need it. But, if you're really stumped by something and want a website but would rather not do it yourself, just email us or click Here and maybe we can help you with what you want.

I am retired, but I offer tutorials and some limited website management and hosting just to "keep my hand in" and stay up to date with the latest web developments. Most of the websites I host are also managed and maintained by myself, and they are charitable or non-profit types. My motivation for this is to give back some of what I have been given. If you have a website in mind that will promote a good cause, feel free to drop me an email and if things appear to be on the level I will help you as time permits.

I am a strong believer and supporter in the Linux open source efforts, and I use only Unix-Linux systems on my web servers and in my office at home. (If you are a Microsoft Windows fan, you may be interested to know that the Microsoft Windows website actually runs on Unix/Linux machines-- for their own internet security.)

The name "Sitebilder" is a play on the German world "bild", meaning "picture". The name was decided upon back when I offered mainly free tutorials for people who wanted to build their own web site, because I provided many images in the lessons to give visual examples of what certain code snippets produced, at a time when images were not overly common on the web... and also because "Sitebuilder", my original choice, was already a registered domain name.

I hope you find something of interest here on the site, and if there's anything you'd like to see added, just use my mailbox below! Drop by again any old time- and Welcome.

Bill
